ABRIL

En abril hace mucho viento y está nublado. El niño vuela una cometa  mientras la mama lava el carro. De repente comienza a llover. La mamá grita: “La ropa se va a mojar!” Todos corren y recogen la ropa que cuelga en la cuerda del jardín. Llevan la ropa a la  casa. De repente para de llover.

Direct Object Pronouns. DOP

If you say:

"María compra las bebidas y después lleva las bebidas a casa" you would be repeating "las bebidas" unnecessarily. Languages have these small words to replace the words already said. They are the pronouns. In this case the direct object of the sentence, LAS BEBIDAS, can be replaced by the pronoun LAS.

"María compra las bebidas y después LAS lleva a casa."

LAS is a direct object pronoun.

The other direct object pronouns (DOP) are:

ME
TE
LO ( masculine, singular).
LA (feminine singular)

NOS
OS
LOS (masculine plural)
LAS (feminine plural

LO, LA, LOS, LAS can refer both to people or objects.

"Me invitas a tu fiesta"?  Are you inviting ME to your party?
Te invito a mi fiesta.  I am inviting YOU to my party

Os veo desde aquí.  I can see you all from here
Cojo los libros y los pongo en la mochila. I pick up the books and I put THEM in my backpack

Notice how the DOP goes in front of the verb, unlike English, where it goes after the verb

You can also place it after the verb, but only if it is an infinitive, a progressive form (ando/iendo) or an affirmative command/
Examples:
Compré una flores hermosas y voy a ponerLAS en un florero en la sala.
